Calm the Chaos

Your home should be a peaceful place to enjoy at all times of the day.  For most of us, it is difficult to relax in a cluttered space.  Balance starts at home.  I would love to help you achieve an organized and functional space so that you can spend your free time doing the things that matter to you most.  Developing a few effective habits can really make a huge difference in your ability to stay focused on what’s most important to you.

Every home and family has different requirements and circumstances to make it function efficiently.  Do what works for you!  Ask yourself a few questions.  Why is your home causing you stress? Do you have excess belongings?  What are your time limitations?  The answer to these questions will motivate you to let go of the clutter and have the organized space you deserve.

Consider adopting these strategies to calm the chaos:

1. Welcome Home

A calming vibe starts as soon as you step in the door. After a long day, stepping through your door should feel like a weight coming off your shoulders. Put items away immediately as you enter. Have a place for everything so that clutter doesn’t pile up. This will also help streamline your morning routine as well – finding your car keys won't delay your day!

2. Reduce the clutter

For most people, it is difficult to get rid of things you’ve spent hard-earned money on that you once used or loved. I know it is hard to make decisions about your stuff, it can be complicated and sometimes filled with sentimental value. These are real and valid feelings that can make it challenging. To be effective with the organization process though you must declutter first. Simply stuffing all the things into cute bins and baskets may look pretty at first but it is only a temporary solution that won’t last long. Letting go gets easier each time you do it, purging is something that just takes practice.

There are a few options when decluttering your belongings:

  • Donate: Have peace of mind knowing that something you no longer need is going to a new home with someone who does need it. You can donate clothes, shoes, or household items in good condition to a number of local charities that are meaningful to you.
  • Sell: Have a garage sale! Neighborhood garage sales are often a good opportunity to set some tables up for your own sale. You could also try posting to a resale group like Facebook Marketplace or other groups in your area.
  • Recycle: Recyclable glass, plastic and paper can go right into your recycling bin or your nearest recycling drop-off location. Here’s a link to Pinellas County Recycling Centers!

3. Work in Increments

There are practical ways to avoid building a mountain of clutter. Let’s face it, life gets busy, but if you can devote 10-20 minutes to a specific project it makes maintaining your house a breeze. For example, address incoming mail and emails daily instead of letting them pile up. Many things only take a few minutes if they are done regularly, so before you call it a day, spend a few minutes tidying the house so you are set up for success the next day!

At Suncoast Organizing Solutions it is important to us that your belongings are donated to a cause that is meaningful to you.  We find that most items clients are parting with can be donated or recycled, so we want to help ensure your items are donated to the proper place. We are always happy to facilitate the recycling of items immediately at the completion of your project at no additional cost to you.

We have established commercial and residential partners along with local charities for donations.  Check out this infographic for resources you can use in the Tampa Bay area:
